A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church in Louisville, Kentucky with interment following in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Memorial Park South Funeral Home in Flowery Branch, Georgia. The family will receive friends in Kentucky on Thursday, December 26, 2024, from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. and then again on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home – Okolona Chapel in Louisville, Kentucky.
Mr. Ludwig was born December 24, 1938, to the late Joseph W. & Rosella E. Gast Ludwig in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and a retired lead pressman for Moreno Press. He was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church. He was well known as a coach and avid fan to many children who knew him as Papa Joe. He was the University of Kentucky’s lifelong super fan.
He is survived by his children, Billy (Sandy) Ludwig, Chris Ludwig, Gail (Jr.) Denney, Margie (Bobby) Ludwig-Tyree, & Jeanette (Ken) Jackson; grandchildren, Jimmy, Chris, Scott, Trey, Angel, Nicole, Bishop, Aaron, Josh, Bradley, E.T., Bobby Joe, Madison, Noelle, Darren, & Taylor; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; brothers, Gary, Richard, & Jimmy; nieces & nephews; and ballpark children.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Ludwig in 2015; grandson, Trey; parents, Joseph & Rosella Ludwig; and brothers, Nick & Ken.
