Jo Ann Dennison Probus, 80, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 in the early morning. Jo Ann was a faithful member of Ormsby Heights Baptist Church for over 50 years. She ministered to several shut-ins by sending them notes and church bulletins. She was a wonderful stay at home mom. She babysat not only grandkids, but many children of friends and family. Once her children were grown, she worked at the Event Company, there, she did many various jobs that involved decorating. She sewed, ironed, painted, glittered, hung drapes and displayed table cloths and chair covers for many prestigious events. These events were local, as well as across the U.S.. Jo Ann was married for 64 years to her childhood sweetheart. Not only did he know her from birth, but they grew up in the same rural community of Leitchfield, Ky.. They attended both school and church together. Today you can still find their initials, long ago carved into a tree, They were an inseparable pair which gave their children and grandchildren a beautiful example of love. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Gladys Dennison, brothers, Randall, Jackie and Steve Dennison, niece, Diana Wooden Witty, nephews, Dave Wooden and Jerry Royalty, brothers in law, Clinton Armstrong and Gene Cash; Gene Probus, Jim Probus, and Carl Blakely; sisters in law Becky Probus and Lucille Blakely. Jo Ann is survived by her faithful husband, Earl Ray Probus, daughter, Kathy McClain, son, Dennis Probus (Becky), four grandchildren, Jason Epperson, Carrie Browning, Justin Probus and Whitney Probus. She had nine great grandchildren, Brandon, Wesle, Siearra, Kendrick, Malorie, Natalie, Furios Kai, Lydia and Anniston, Xavier Young Epperson was her sole great-great grandchild. She was also survived by a brother, Jay Dennison (Patsy); and sisters Dorothy Armstrong and Donna Wooden (David). She was very proud of having five generations for many years. She was also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. No one can say she ever spoke a harsh or unkind word to them. Jo Ann was blessed to have a very special friendship that spanned 60 years. Both ladies swapped stories while raising their children, grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Service will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2016 at Heady- Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway with burial in Hanging Rock Cemetery, Hanging Rock Road, Leitchfield, KY. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Thursday. The family asks that any donations be made to the Hanging Rock Cemetery Fund, Hanging Rock Missionary Baptist Church or Hosparus. Special thanks to Hosparus staff (Sara and Anitra) who took wonderful care of Jo Ann for several months. During this time, she received 171 cards from friends and family.
