He was born on March 28th, 1952 and was retired from Churchill Downs after 37 years of
service, and from UPS after 20 years of service. He continued his employment at Churchill
Downs beyond retirement for the past 5 years by working security at the place that he loved.
He was preceded in death by his mom, Hattie Ann Kendall, dad, Johnnie C. Kendall, and sister,
Patricia Ann Kendall.
The most important and cherished part of his life was his family. He is survived by his loving wife
of 47 years, Donna Sue Kendall; sons Corey Wayne Kendall (Corrinne), and Casey Layne
Kendall (Shasta); two grandsons Kaden Jude Kendall, and Vance Wayne Kendall. Sister,
Brenda Robinson, and multiple nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved family
dog, Charlie Brown.
He was a thoughtful dreamer, an avid follower of horse racing, an admirer of classic and muscle
cars, and a lover of all animals. At his core was a kind, sentimental soul and a provider’s heart
who fought bravely, loved unapologetically, and gave quietly and generously.
Jerry’s visitation will be from 3-8 PM Tuesday, October 31st, 2023 at Advantage Funeral Home -
Hardy Chapel, 10907 Dixie Highway. Additional visitation from 9-11 AM on November 1st, 2023.
His funeral will be Wednesday, November 1st, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with burial
to follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
