Jay Loring Landers, 70, of Springfield, died at 11:59 pm, Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. He was born on March 30, 1950 in Louisville, KY to Frank H. and Marilyn (Pormann) Landers. He married Patricia Ann Robards on November 2, 1974.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia of Springfield; daughter, Kelly Erin Landers of Edinburg; son, Christopher Barton Landers of Springfield; two grandsons, Sean Patrick and James David Landers and granddaughter, Ryanne Jolie Leonard; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Carolyn Robards of Greenville, KY; two nephews, Todd and James Nelson Robards, three great nieces and one great nephew.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ryan Joseph Landers on April 7, 2007 and his parents.
Jay worked for 25 years as manager of University Radio Stations and was Chief Development Officer of Quest Charter Academy. He had been the Director of the Springfield Area Arts Council. Jay was a member of the Peoria Accordion Club and the American Accordion Association. He was a fine musician who began playing when he was eight years old. Jay played all types of music, but especially enjoyed playing Irish music with his wife. They formed the duo Donnybrook. Jay had a wicked sense of humor, and was a fantastic father to his children. He was proud of his family and grateful for his friends.

Funeral Service: 10:30 am, Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Mark Gifford officiating.
Graveside services: 10:00 am Monday, March 15, 2021 at Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville, KY.
