Janet Rose Googe

Janet was born and raised in Louisville, KY and was a graduate of Louisville Male High School. She and Willard met through Willard's sister, and they were married in 1956, she was 17 and he was 19, but their love lasted for 68 years, on April 9th. Michael was born in 1957 with son David following in 1963. Janet was a homemaker and worked as a secretary/administrative roles her whole life. Willard's work with Brown and Williamson moved them to Macon GA in 1982 where they continued to live.

Janet was an avid crafter. She had a ceramics business and mentored and educated many people in the field. She enjoyed crocheting and painting also. She was a selfless gifter, always remembering what a person liked and then surprising them with a "little something" for them. She would crochet hand towels and sell them and gifted them frequently in the last years. At her Celebration of Life in Macon we were able to gift the attendees with over 200 of the towels.

Janet was a devout Christian and a longtime member of Northway Church in Macon GA. She started every day with her Bible study and breakfast. She was an active member of her Connections class at Northway and they became her family in Macon. She enjoyed lunches and events with them. She was an active participant with their mission to help feed and provide for the homeless in Macon.

Family was so important to Janet, she adored her sons and supported them however she could. And though they were far away her Grandchildren; Danny and Stacey were always on her mind and thoughts. When Jaylan, her first great-grandchild came she nicknamed him Little Turkey and loved and doted over him every chance she could. When Theo came 4 years ago, he became the light in her eyes and she loved the time she got to visit and spend with him. She was especially happy that she got to see him just a week before she passed.

Janet passed at home in her comfy chair, after eating one of her favorite meals. It was peaceful. She now is in the arms of her Lord.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Frances Stallman.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Willard Googe; sons, Michael Googe (Leesa) and David Googe; grandchildren, Daniel Googe (Dani) and Stacey Ray (Shane); and great-grandchildren, Jaylan Wright and Theo Googe.

Funeral service will be at 11am on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Evergreen Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 4pm-8pm on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Evergreen Funeral Home. Janet will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery.
