Janet L. Ackerman

She was born to the late Jule and Albert W. Acy in Louisville, Kentucky. Her sister, Elizabeth Schmalz (Robert) and husband Donald Ackerman have preceded her in passing.

Janet attended Valley High School where she met the love of her life, Donald E. Ackerman, Sr. Once they graduated, Donald went into the service, they married shortly after and were married for 52 years. They created their life in Louisville, having three children; Don, Janet, and Doug. She was the matriarch of the family. Janet was an amazing cook, loved to take trips to many destinations. If Janet wasn't spending time with her daughter Janet shopping, she was playing Bridge with friends or enjoying the fresh air on her walks. Her family was the most important thing to her, becoming Grandma/GG was one of the proudest moments. She was a loving mother and a devoted wife who will be missed dearly by those who knew her.

Here to cherish her memory are her children; Don (Becky), Janet Forrest (Gary), and Doug, five grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

Visitation will take place at Arch L. Heady and Son Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. Louisville, Kentucky on Monday, November 25th from 2-4pm. Funeral Mass will occur on Tuesday, November 26th at 10:30AM at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 2813 Shelbyville Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40222. Janet will be entombed in Louisville Memorial Garden East following the Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Janet's memory to Mass of the Air or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
