Helen L. Allen

Helen was born on September 07, 1925 in Louisville, KY.

Throughout her life she lived in Florida, Indiana, and final residence in Kentucky. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1943. She was married in 1947 to Albert Lee Allen. Her career in banking started at the old Bank of Louisville in downtown Louisville then she worked at the old Bank of St. Helens in Shively, KY, where she retired in 1989 after 30 years.

Helen is a Protestant by faith. She was actively involved with her church, especially helping with Vacation Bible School and being a Sunday school teacher. She spent countless hours in the kitchen cooking and baking goodies for every occasion. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and spending time with family and friends. Helen was well known for her kind heart, welcoming presence, and giving spirit.

Survived by her son, David Lee Allen (Sandra) and daughter, Sandra L Jenne. Helen was proud of her 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Martin Buehler and Margaret Mae (Reiser) Buehler, parents Spencer Otis Doughty and Margaret Gertrude (Buehler) Doughty, brother Martin E Doughty, son in law Charles Jenne, and grandson Christopher Allen.

Visitation will be held from 12pm to 2pm with a Funeral Service beginning at 2pm on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Arch L Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road. Burial taking place in Resthaven Memorial Park following the memorial service.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, in lieu of flowers.
