Hazel Akers Kessinger, 94 of Mt. Washington, KY went to join the love of her life in heaven Cecil J. Kessinger, Thursday, May 21, 2015. She was a Christian and a Baptist by Faith. During her life she worked at Donaldson Baking Co., owned Okolona Cafeteria and retired from Enro shirt factory. She was a seamstress and a quilter, a U of K quilt signed by Coach Cal was her most treasured possession. She was also a member of Eastern Star.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents James and Annie Napier, and was the last surviving sibling out of thirteen children.
Left to Cherish her memory are her children Charlotte Akers Brown(Dennis), Jenny Akers Ramsey (Ray), Bud Akers(Linda), Sandra Akers Williams, 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, the family pets she loved so much Pepper and Blue, and dear friends Reedafae, Murell and Faye. The family would also like to thank the Hospice nurses who took such good care of Hazel, Robyn Mathis and Cherri Williams.
A service to celebrate the life of Hazel will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 2pm in the chapel of Arch L. Heady-Okolona with burial to follow at Hebron Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2-8pm and also on the day of the funeral service from 1pm until the time of the service. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hosparus of Louisville.
