She was born in Stuttgart, Germany, to the late Anna Maria (Gindele) and Hermann Wirbel, on November 21, 1934. She moved to the United States on Derby Day in 1960.
Lore was a devoted, loving, and nurturing mother, Oma, and wife, a gifted seamstress, and an excellent cook. She enjoyed spending time with family, serving her loved ones, parish, and community, a good cup of coffee with sweets, scratch offs, the casino and track, playing Yahtzee, and watching game shows and old movies.
Lore was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Edward Neil Kapfhammer; and brother Siegfried Wirbel. Left to cherish her memory include her children: Jutta Helm (Philip), Ronald (Karen), Gary (Tabi), and Angela Keene; siblings: Reinhold Wirbel (Renate), Marianne Kuhl (Guenther), Ursula Elssaesser (Peter); grandchildren: Emily McGill (Dan), Aaron (Alisha), Matthew Helm (Shannen), Cameron Keene, Nicholas Helm (Kaitlin); great-grandchildren: Averi, Callan and Caleb; and a lifetime of extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held from 3-8pm on Thursday, June 2, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road. A Mass of Christian Burial in Lore's honor will be held at 10am on Friday, June 3, at Saint Teresa of Calcutta, 903 Fairdale Road, with private entombment at Resthaven Memorial Park.
