Grace Christine Pettett Blankenship, age 88, died in her home in Greenville, SC. on May 21, 2016. She is formerly from Louisville, but lived the past three years in SC. Born in Etowah, Tennessee on June 2, 1927 and graduated from Louisville Girls High School in 1945. Predeceased are her parents, Barney Lee Pettett and Ollie Mae Harmon Pettett, her brothers, Bobby and Lee, and her granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Blankenship and nephew, Robert Dean Pettett, Jr.. She is survived by her four children, Paula Hood Sullivan( Jim), Pamela Chitwood Norris, Kenneth Blankenship (Bonnie) and David Blankenship (Pam Cox); her six grandchildren, Mark Hood(Ashley), Elizabeth Griffin(Matthew), J. Ryan Chitwood, Jennifer Melton, Patricia Blankenship and Tyler Blankenship and her five great-grandchildren, Isaac Melton, Alana Hakim, Michael, Gabriel and Jordan Griffin. She was an exuberant homemaker and worker at American Red Cross, Kentucky Fried Chicken Headquarters, Dehoney Travel and the Election Board. She was a member of Eastern Star, the Etowah Club, and at Walnut Street Baptist Church, expressing her love and joy for her Savior, Jesus Christ through singing gospel music, working in the garden, always smiling and her generous heart for family and others. Funeral service will be held at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd. in Louisville on Friday, May 27, 2016 at noon. Visitation at 11:00. There will be no burial service.
