Gilbert B. Hardin, 93, returned to his heavenly father on July 15, 2016. Gilbert was a veteran of W.W. II in Germany. When he returned home he worked at Oertels92 for many years and retired from the City of Louisville.
He was preceded in death by his parents Sanford and Nancy Hardin, brothers Elmer (Mary), Albert (Hazel) sisters Gladys Faller (Frank), Virginia Martin (Clyde), and Christine Sachse (Allen), son Terry Hardin, daughter Sandra Mattern, son-in-law Rodney Watson, daughter-in-laws, Vicki, Cindi, and Peggy Hardin, and his dear friend Tom Byrne.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Cora and his children Donna Lamb (Ian), Gary (Irma), Philip, Steve, Janet Watson, Perry, Dale and son-in-law Robert Mattern. His 18 grandchildren, great, and great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and many more family and friends.
A service to celebrate Mr. Hardin’s life will be held at Noon Wednesday, July 20, in the chapel of Arch L. Heady-Cralle, 2428 Frankfort Ave. with entombment at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be 2-8 pm Tuesday.
