Born on Tuesday, August 13, 1929 in Louisville, Kentucky, Germaine was the daughter of the lates’ Frank E. Saffran & Lillian F. Akers. She attended and graduated the Ursuline Academy, Class of 1948. She was also a member of the Clark – Floyd Moose Lodge & was a member of the Academy of Friendship, where she served as an Officer & Chairwoman of the Women of the Moose in 1984-1985. During her time at the Moose, she & her late husband competed in and won several dance competitions. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary #3636, The Redman Club & Fairdale Christian Church.
Besides her parents, Frank E & Lillian F. Saffran; her husband, Richard Jenkins; & daughters, Carolyn Whelan & Barbara Crace, precede Germaine in her passing.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Donald W. (Cindy) Jenkins; grandchildren, Gavin Hodges, Gareth Hodges, David (Dawn) Hodges, Jr. & Ryan Jenkins; great – grandchildren, Hailey, Brinley & Brycen; plus, a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Dignity Chapel of the Evergreen Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until the Funeral Hour of 2:00 p.m. also at the Evergreen Funeral Home. Germaine will be laid to rest in the Court of St. Philip of the Evergreen Cemetery & Garden Mausoleums, where she will rest for eternity.
