Gary Ray Green

Gary R. Green, 71, of Louisville, passed away on April 14, 2022. He was born in Louisville on March 17, 1951 to the late Charles and Geraldine Green. Gary was a Westport Warhawk and graduated with the class of 1969. He attended the University of Kentucky where he received his Bachelor’s degree in geography and went on to the University of Louisville where he received his Master’s degree in Urban Renewal and City Planning. After graduating, he went on to work for the Commonwealth of Kentucky for 30 years until retiring. Gary had a passion for traveling and has been around the world twice. He loved music and was very proud of his music collection. He was an avid baseball and UK basketball fan. Gary was a humanitarian as well as an environmentalist. He was a loving father and he will be missed deeply by everyone who knew him.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Lauren Green (Joe Riggs) and Kaitlyn Green (Trevor Drury); a sister, Cheryl Green Rose (Tom) and many extended family members.

A service to celebrate Gary’s life will take place at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Arch L. Heady Funeral Home- Westport Village with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will welcome guests for visiting at the funeral home prior to the service from 10:00am-1:00pm.

Memorial donations may be made in Gary’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association.

**In lieu of all black dress, guests are invited to wear black and/or UK blue to the services.
