Flossie Cecil, 89, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away October 5, 2024. She was born on October 26, 1934 to the late Walter and Mary Lou Merideth. Flossie was a faithful member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. She worked at Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital in the Sterile Processing Department for over 30 years. Flossie enjoyed traveling, especially to the Great Smoky Mountains and the beach, shopping, the casino, horse racing, and bingo. She was an avid lover of country music. If she heard there was a country concert in town, she would be in attendance. Flossie could often be found at her favorite restaurant, McDonald’s.
In addition to her parents, Flossie is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Cecil; and sisters, Dorothy “Dockey”, Anna Ruth “Eucky”, and Jean.
Flossie is survived by her children, Mary Ann Beck (Mark), Debbie Gentry, Joe Cecil, Jr., Mark Cecil, and Lynn Cecil (Tash); grandchildren, April, Ashley (Craig), Timmy, Kristy, Chad, Kimberly, Jessica (Bradley), Zach (Megan), Austin (Lindsey), Dallas, and Tori; great grandchildren, Nathan, Adalyn, Raegan, Beckett, Madison, Destiny, Lexi, Lilah, Kenlie, Capri, Emery, Wyatt, Scout, Kaden, Maddox, and Benny; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and loving friends.
The Cecil family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Park Terrace Three North and the staff at Hosparus Health for all their care and compassion.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 12:00pm Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 5431 Johnsontown Rd, Louisville, Kentucky 40272. Visitation will be held Monday, October 14, 2024 from 3:00pm-7:00pm at Evergreen Funeral Home. Flossie will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s association or Hosparus of Louisville.
