Grief truly has no timeline.  I guess it’s the price we pay for love.  Tonight has been very difficult.  I just miss you, dad.  I truly miss you.

Today marks the 10th year of your passing.  I guess it seems fitting,  that Tina finally finished my memory bear.  After 10 very long years of waiting,  I finally got it this month.  That said,  it was like getting a hug from heaven.  
I love and miss you more than words can ever express.

From the time I was a little girl and you gave me my first rose,  you always made me feel special on Valentine’s Day.  It may have been just a card, candy, flowers, or sometimes it was all 3.  But you never failed to make me feel loved and special.  Those memories I will carry with me for the rest of my life.  Missing you, my very first Valentine.

I want to express my sympathies in the passing of Gene Brainer.  He was working my case via AmVets and through the years we encouraged each other through our health issues.  He was a kind man and will be missed.

On behalf of James A., James G. and Pat Faulk we extend our deepest sympathy in the loss of a wonderful man that we had the pleasure to know. My parents visited Gene on Tuesday in ICU for almost 3 hours - we send our thoughts and prayers to all that loved this truely special man !!! My deepest condolences to Judith and the family.  Mr. Brainer was a great friend to the veterans of this nation.  He personally helped my family and me from my departure of service in 2007 until May of this year.  My regret will always be not making it to Louisville and thanking him in person.  His guidance and advice aided us during hard times.  He was always quick to express his appreciation for veterans and reluctant to except my appreciation for his.  May God bless you and your family.

Words cannot adequately express the loss I feel about the home-going of Gene Brainer.  He was a wonderful friend; Vet Rep.; mentor and person. I wanted to express my sincerest condolences over Gene's passing. I don't know that anyone can put a number on the amount of veterans that Gene helped during his time as a VSO. I never got to meet him in person, but spoke several times on the phone. I directed many veterans to see him through my work as a readjustment counselor with the Nashvile Vet Center. I knew Gene when I worked for the VA and he always, always found answers to my questions and worked diligently to serve the veterans of Kentucky.  My prayers are for his wife and daughters that will find peace in their hearts and time will come when they can remember their loved one with tales and laughter.

Gene wss a wonderful person who will be greatly missed.  Gene helped my family out when my son and husband returned from Iraq.  We became good friends and he is a friend that all will miss.  To Gene's family I am sorry for your loss and you will be in my prayers.

I met Gene many years ago while working for the Dept. of Veteran's Affairs. Throughout these years, I had a lot of contact with Gene. He was always so warm and giving. No matter if I came to his office unexpectedly with a problem, Gene greeted me as if I was the most important person. He dropped everything and worked the problem out with me. He cared deeply for the veterans and their families. Gene will be greatly missed by so many.

I am very sorry to hear of the death of Gene Brainer. Gene was a tremendous help to my parents. My father was a WW II Navy veteran and was paralyzed by a stroke at the age of 70. Gene helped process my father's claim with the VA resulting in a number of benefits to my dad. Gene always returned phone calls and answered my questions in a cheerful manner. He was a joy to work with and got tangible results. I am truly saddened at the thought of his passing.

The Brainer family and all of us veterans that Gene helped has lost wonderful human being .I knew Gene for about 10 years. He was a great guy who cared about his family of which he talked about constantly; He also sure cared about his veterans he fought hard for you if you were a client of his.I will never forget his belly laughs and that smile ,my friend you will be missed and never will be replaced.Thank you for sharing a little of your life with me.

The veterans community throughout the state of Kentucky has lost it's best service rep. I always turned to Gene whenever any of the veterans with whom I was working as a psychologist needed help in filing a claim. Gene was compassionate, highly motivated and never forgot the bond that all of us have from serving in Vietnam. My prayers are with Gene's family in this time of difficulty. He is truly in a well earned and deserved better place.
