Emma was born in Lawrence County, AL on August 26, 1930, to the late Mildred and Earl Smith. She was retired from the Jefferson County Circuit Court Clerks Office, where she served with distinction for 22 years.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her two sisters, Louise and Pauline; and one brother, Howell.
She is survived by her loving husband, Charles; a devoted son, Charles Earl (LeDonna); three grandchildren, Rodney, Pamela and Cindy; a sister, Bessie Alexander; four great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, 2-5 p.m. at the W.G. Hardy Funeral Home, 10907 Dixie Hwy., with private burial in Bethany Cemetery.
