Donna Marie Simpson (77), of Louisville, Ky passed away on August 16, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born to Charles and Hermina "Sunny" Simpson of Lexington, Ky. She graduated from Henry Clay High School in 1960 and received a Bachelor's degree in Child Education from the University of Kentucky in 1964. She began her teaching career at Smyrna Elementary School in 1964 then proceeded to finish her teaching career at Robert Frost Middle School retiring after 28 years of teaching. She was the first teacher to receive the June Lee Award , was an active member of the JCTA and a member of Southeast Christian Church. She also was awarded the title of Kentucky Colonel. In life she gave all of herself to her students, family, and friends. She lived life to its fullest and loved freely.
She is survived by her children, Dana Albrecht, Rick Albrecht, Jennifer Albrecht, Sarah Herndon, and Charles Price as well as her grandchildren Jacob Albrecht, Zoie Albrecht, Breanna Price, Hayden Price, and Taylor Kay Herndon; cousins Charles L. Hillard, Andy Hillard, Mary K. Hillard Trosper, Tom Trosper, Elizabeth Trosper and Rebecca Trosper, all of Annville, Kentucky and great-grandson, Jaxon McNear.
Visitation will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday, August 20, 2021. Graveside services will be held Saturday 11:30 am at Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Kentucky.
