All I knew about David is that my best friend loved him with all her heart and was crazy about him.   Then Cassie was born making a family.  
I Never seen Cheryl so happy and I know she has the best memories to carry her through til she sees him again. Thank you David for being her guy! Rest easy love to everyone during this time! 

Growing up with Cassie and her family, is something I consider myself so lucky for. David, or "Beno" as my dad called him, was the biggest teddy bear with the biggest heart. I remember anytime we'd go anywhere, I would always feel like I was with the coolest guy in town. Everyone knew him, and everyone wanted to talk to him! Cassie and Cheryl, I am SO sorry for both of your losses.  I know the feeling all to well. Please know that I personally will never forget David, or either of you. I thank you for treating me like your own growing up, and hope you know the impact you had on me. With love, April Arnold.

Growing up you was way more than Uncle David to me. You was a Father figure. You did everything you could for anyone.  When I would spend the night as a kid I remember you waking Cassie & I up with White Castles.  You loved your family more than anything! The Love you showed Cheryl & Cassie is unconditional.  The way you smiled around Ben was so pure of happiness. I am glad I got to spend a little time with you and told you everything that I wanted to tell you. You told me you knew I would make a great Dad one day because I knew how it felt to grow up without a Dad being there. That meant so much to me. I hope you realized that I learn a lot on how to treat people from you.  David you will never be forgotten. You raised a great Daughter. She met a great guy in Tim.  Now what you taught her she will pass along to Ben. Rest easy!

I had first met David and Cheryl right around the 6th grade. Cassie and I had met in middle school and had a instant connection and became good friends. I spent many days at there house joking with David. I called him Joe C from kid rock and he called me Moe Pie. He always had a smile on his face every time I seen him. He had a huge heart and a great sense of humor, David truly loved his family. His wife and daughter was always his #1. I am truly grateful to have known him and to have shared wonderful happy memories together. Thank you for letting me be a part of your life. I love you Cassie and Cheryl you had an amazing father and partner.

One of the many things I will always remember about this wonderful man are the days we just sat on Brenda Gail's front porch or her kitchen table and talked.  David always listened and gave his best advice.  He was funny and smart and loving.  And Cheryl and Cassie were his pride and joy. He loved them with his whole heart and it was on his face whenever he spoke of them. My condolences to all the people who loved him. 

Oh my where do I start,  First memory of David was back in early 80's me and my Sis, Cheryl Zimmerman-Proctor, were riding down 5th Street and saw a bunch of guys playing basketball in the street and we honked and flirted, and rode back around and stopped and talked to them,  this is when Cheryl and David met and have been together ever since.   Another one was how David was so kind to my kids,  bought them countless pairs of shoes.   And of course his famous homemade Doritos.  So many more memories.  We all  love and gonna miss you, you are pain free and in Heaven with your Momma and others.  <3.

There are so many memories I have but the one that sticks out the most is the nickname he gave me in the 7th grade and the only name he had called me since. For some reason he started calling me Rodriguez anytime he seen me. After years of him calling me that (even yelling the name out at our 8th grade graduation) I finally asked him why he called me that. His response: "I have no idea" I'll miss hearing him call me that but anytime I hear that name I know I'll think of him. Not 15 mins after I found out he passed, Rodriguez was said on a tv show that just happened to be on. I love you David and I'll miss you. Thank you for being a second dad to me growing up. 

I remember you dad teaching me how to read  a program correctly and never bet a horse to show .  He said  you know all of you Zimmermans look alike!  I said. OH NO!!! And he laughed forever over that. My prayers for you and your family Cheryl. Love you very much cuz! And my heart breaks for you Cassie. Love always

Nothing but great memories of this man. I grew up in the same neighborhood as Cassie David and Cheryl.  They are also family. I grew up without a father and David definitely helped fill the void I felt.  I will never forget how he was there for me,  along with Cassie and Cheryl. They are such a wonderful family. 

As sad as I am to think I will never hear your voice, hug you, kiss you, laugh at your goofy jokes, I somehow find comfort knowing you are no longer suffering. I watched you day after day, year after year in pure pain. I know you are now free. I'm so jealous of what heaven has gained because there is no way your love can be recreated. I promise to live up to what you told me, Put my family first, love my child like no other,  spoil him, be a good person to EVERYONE, share my blessings-give to the less fortunate, I promise to never miss a Derby, I promise not to take the sucker bet and to always bet the Gray horse. I promise to always stand up for myself and not take anyone's sh!t. It's not goodbye, its I'll see you later.   I love you Daddy !

He is preceded in death by his father, David Wayne Proctor Sr. and his mother Patricia Drake Bray; brother, David Glascock and his sister Debra Baxter.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Cheryl Zimmerman Proctor, daughter, Cassie Leigh Finn (Timothy); grandson, Bentlee Jordan(His Papa Man); siblings, Brenda Proctor, Rondal Drake, Billy Proctor (Mixie) and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family members.
