My name is Patti Miller and I am the daughter of Henry Walters who pastored Sadieville Baptist church. I am so sorry to learn of Mrs. Matthews' passing. I remember her vividly as well as her husband and her parents Mr & Mrs Lee. I remember her singing and the many slides that were shown of their work as missionaries. May God bless you.

I miss sitting next to you on Mondays at SMBC. May your spirit soar & may you be happy with the Lord. Hope to see you again in Heaven.

Hello! My condolences to the Matthews!
I can't help not to write something because you are very well remembered. I am Nanette Bartolaba Gaurano. Debbie and Dion's eldest daughter in Zion Church, Davao City.  And very much privilege spending my early years with your family.   Am sure you have met my Dad and Mom out there in Heaven.

Our deepest sympathies for your your loss.

Wish our family could be there in person to honor "Aunt Clara". Many fond memories of spending time at Aunt Clara's when I would go and visit the "twins", Faith and Ann. (When our family was living in Davao, Philippines.) Our thoughts and prayers are with the family as you mourn her departure from this world.

Clara has been an inspiration to us at Lyndon Baptist Church for many years. We have been
blessed by her dedication to her Lord and to her family.  We will miss her.

I am so very sorry to hear of Clara's passing.  I had the joy of getting to know her over the last several years and so enjoyed all the stories she shared especially about her life as a missionary.  Being in the presence of such a Godly woman truly was a gift.  I will miss her so but will look forward to being reunited in Heaven.  I love how the Lord surprised her with a different "New Home" on Sept. 1st!

Very Sad News!!! Is the way I started a message to her (& our) friends in Manila.  Harold & Clara were very much integral in helping us plant Heritage Christian Fellowship. Many responded with "Yes, it is sad news."  Teddy Lim wrote, "That was indeed sad news for us.  Clara Matthews had supported HCF during its early years and we cannot forget that help.  HCF will definitely want to express our sympathies to the Matthews families ..." 

Harold and Clara were co-workers (BTW, excellent missionaries), our "encouragers," source of "mission" advice, examples to follow, etc. but most of all they were our friends. They were special and will be missed.

Matthews Clan, our hearts go out to you!  We understand your loss.  We are encouraged to know that her rewards are very great!!!

We love you all.  Aunt Clara was my ideal woman growing up.  I wanted to be just like her - full of grace, kind, loving, gentle, and a devoted mother.  She was mentor and friend to my mother on the mission field, my 3rd grade teacher, and so dear to me.  Beth, Tim and all, I love you and am praying for you.

What a Godly life she lived. I know she'll be missed by her loved ones but I'm rejoicing with you that she's in her heavenly home now, with all those who've gone before her.

We are saddened by the news of your mother's death.  We had  many good times in her home and with all of you.  We are sorry we can not get away to come to the funeral.  We will be thinking of all of you.  Wayne and Jeanne Maness

We loved Clara and enjoyed the times in the PI when we got to be with her, as well as the times at our PBM reunions here in the US. We missed her at this last one but hope your family will continue to join with us at the reunions. She was a blessing to us all as well as the Filipinos.

We are praying for all the family.  Clara was a good friend, co-worker, encourager, musician and follower of Christ.  She will be greatly missed.  We cherish the days, months and years we had together in the Philippines.  May God cover the family with His protective wings, giving comfort and peace. Prayers to family and friends, Ms Matthews left a legacy which her work in life reflects, I send prayers to family and friends for comfort with their loss in spite of knowing that she is in a brilliant, beautiful place.

I had the great privilege of singing next to Clara in Joyous Singers for about 3 years.  She was one of the kindest, gentlest people I have ever met.  She was always on pitch and often helped me with the rhythm.  We became friends.  She was a devoted member of our chorus and will be greatly missed.  Please know that her family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear sweet Clara! I'm going to miss her so much.  My heart is with all of you. I love you all.  There really are not enough words to express how I feel.

So sorry to hear this nres about a dear, sweet friend.  Praying God will truly supply every need at this bittersweet time. Bittersweet because you grieve as you say "goodbye" while at the same time rejoice that she is now with her Jesus.  With love and hugs to you all.

My thoughts go out to the Matthews family. I got to know them well during the period we overlapped in the Philippines (was good friends with Drew) and she was always great with us. I know she touched a lot of people during her time here, and this world is a much better place for her having been in it.

To all the family of Aunt Clara, I send my deepest condolences.  I very much admired and respected her and have enjoyed getting to spend time with her at various PBM reunions through the years.  She was such a vibrant, intelligent, and funny woman.  She will definitely be missed. I will be praying for the whole family.

May the Lord bless all the Matthews family at this special time. Clara was a beautiful person in and out. She gave of herself and lived a life of love for the Lord and her family. Now she is enjoying the riches of her heavenly home. We send our love and condolences.
