He was the eldest son of Anna Myrtle O'Neal Herber and Emile George Herber, and brother of E. George "EG" Herber.
Bobby was a typesetter for Dickson Company Typesetters where he met his future wife. After 2 years of marriage he was drafted to join the Army in the Korean War. He was a topographer for the war effort, making maps for the troops. Bob won a commendation for his work.
Bob returned to the states and after Dickson closed in the late 60s he was hired by LG&E from where he retired.
Bob was known for his wit and compassion. He would be there for anyone needing help, especially his loving and devoted neighbors. Bob grew up in the west end of Louisville, was an avid marble player, and his yard became the go to place for marble tournaments. Bob graduated from Ahrens Trade School as a linotype operator. He loved to go fishing with Dot and friends. Also Bob was avid golfer. On any given Sunday afternoon, you would find Bob golfing with his caddy, Dot. Bob was an expert on growing tomatoes harvesting over 200 a season with only two plants. Plus he had a plant for the squirrels.
Bob leaves his extended family many good memories to cherish. His nephews Steve Shuff Sr. (Alice), and Richard Shuff always enjoyed spending the nights with Bob and Dot (and Butch the dog)as youngsters.
Additionally, great nephew Steve Shuff Jr (Ryan), great nieces Melissa Butler.(Philip), and Laurel Wyatt (Billy), and great great nieces and nephews, Teagan, Jazlynn, Kaleb, Quentin and Wesley.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, March 20 at 4:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Funeral Home. Entombment will be in the Garden of Flowers of the Evergreen Cemetery & Garden Mausoleums where he will rest alongside his wife, Dot, for eternity. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2022 from 1:00 until the hour of service at 4:00 p.m. and will resume after the Funeral Service until 8:00 p.m.
