Bethany Lynn Doolittle, her story may have started in Florida, but love brought her home to Cleveland, TN. While many lives begin in a delivery room, Bethany’s began in a courtroom, surrounded by her forever family, where love would become her birthright. At five years old, Bethany found us, and we found her—she was finally, forever home.
She was strong—a survivor, strong-willed, and a fighter. Though she faced an uphill battle, Bethany pressed on. She loved to sing, and even in the midst of chaotic days, she could still release a song. In her finest moments, Bethany showed us her heart’s vast capacity for kindness, compassion, happiness, and love. She expressed herself creatively, whether through music, drawing, or writing. Her life, though difficult, was brimming with hope.
Through her 18-year journey, her family surrounded her with love, encouragement, prayer, and hope. Whether the day was filled with beauty or marked by heartache, Bethany always had her family’s unwavering commitment and love.
Though her time with us was far too short, she was a beloved daughter, sister, and friend. She leaves behind her loving parents, Thomas James Doolittle, Jr., and Amy Doolittle, who were an unfailing source of love and support. She is also survived by her sisters: Heather Braden and her spouse, Joshua, along with their children, Hannah, Audri, and Josiah; and Hilary Moots and her spouse, Jonathan, along with their children, Addison and Hunter. Beyond her immediate family, she is remembered by many others who love her deeply—her extended family and friends. Each shared a unique bond with her, and together they will cherish her memory, honoring the moments they shared.
She is now at peace, her spirit resting alongside her dear brother, Jonathan Doolittle, whose memory remains close to the hearts of this family. She is also reunited with her cherished grandmother, Carolyn Livingston, whose memory was a constant source of comfort and strength for Bethany.
Though her time with us was brief, Bethany’s story will live on in our hearts. We will forever carry her in our memory. The family wishes to say a heartfelt thanks to Bethel Bible Village, Tennessee Baptist, and Project Transitions for caring so deeply for Bethany and being a pillar of support and strength for her and our family.
Bethany had a heart for missions and spent many Saturday hours pouring her heart and energy into volunteering at Second Harvest Ministry. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to consider making a donation to North Cleveland Church of God, designated for Second Harvest Ministry or the Rise and Build project. Your contribution will continue the work she cared for so deeply.
Pieced together from a series of her creative writings she leaves with us:
"I am not okay today, but I am worthy of many things. Love. Affection. Kindness. Just to name a few. I am not okay today, but I am still worthy of many things.
Broken from the pain, but me, I’m chosen.
Dear God. Take control of my life, guide my steps and use me. You hold the whole universe in your hands; I know you have a plan for me. I love you, I know you love me. You just want our devotion and our heart. I am ready. I am ready."
Committal service officiated by Reverend Ryan Bain will be held in the Chapel of Apostles at Evergreen Cemetery, 4623 Preston Hwy, on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 1 pm (EST). Bethany will be laid to rest with her brother, Jonathan Thomas Doolittle.
