Anita Rose Twiss, 96, of Louisville passed away on Saturday September 10, 2022. She was born on July 19, 1926 in Louisville to the late Lawrence Marion and Ada Elizabeth (Wyzard) Ashby. Anita was retired from Bell South after 31 years of service. She was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars ladies auxiliary chapter 1181, since 1986, president of the chapter, 1990-91, and the Kentucky Auxiliary secretary for 15 years; and a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She loved bowling, camping, bingo and dominos. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years Ora Twiss in 2009. Left to cherish her memory are her brother, Ken Ashby; and sister, LaVerne Kincaid; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Twiss will be held at 1pm Friday in the Southern Chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. with entombment to follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3-8 pm., and after 10 am on Friday. Memorial gifts may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
