Faye was born June 25, 1939 to Carl and Opal Tandy, and had nine brothers and sisters.
She lived an amazing life and fought two courageous battles with cancer. Faye beat breast cancer in April, but was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer in June.
Although the lung cancer was unrelated to the breast cancer, it had spread throughout her body and into her bones. Still, Faye refused to give up, and started receiving treatment with a breakthrough cancer drug July 12. She fought with every ounce of her strength, but the combination of the late diagnosis and side effects from the new drug were too much to overcome. Even so, she wouldn't stop fighting, refusing to let go until she realized her loved ones wanted her suffering to end.
Now Faye is at peace and back together with her husband, Mitchell, and two sons who preceded her in death.
An avid reader, Faye loved the outdoors and going for drives on Sunday afternoons. Some of her happiest moments were spent in a glider in her daughter's garden. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and touched many lives. Those who knew her will never forget her. Even though we will miss her but know that we'll be reunited with her someday.
She is survived by her son, Michael, daughter Trish, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Faye's life will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, July 31st, in the chapel of Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Avenue, with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held after 10 am Monday.
The family requests contributions in Faye's memory to the American Cancer Society.
