Ronald Frank Bird

Ron Bird from Morro Bay, CA passed away on October 2, 2024, at the age of 79. He was born in Highland Park, MI to parents Glenna Jean May and Claude Marsh Bird. Ron wanted to be a pilot like his father before him, and left college to serve his country flying helicopters in the Vietnam War. While in flight school in Colorado Springs, CO, he met and then married the love of his life Gladys Fox in 1968. Ron served one tour in Vietnam as a Chief Warrant Officer and Helicopter Pilot in the U.S. Army, receiving the Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal.

Ron returned to the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign to complete his bachelor's degree, and then went on to earn his Juris Doctorate San Diego, California. He practiced civil law throughout his career across public, corporate, and private practices. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Gladys Bird, his sons Bryan Bird (Kristi) and Andrew Bird (Vanessa), his grandsons William, Alexander, Lincoln, and Theodore, his sister Kaye Schoonhoven, and his nephew Scott Schoonhoven (Patty Felts).
