Dorothy Louise Terry

July 20, 1940 – November 11, 2024

Dorothy began life’s journey in McKeesport, Pennsylvania as the first born of six children to Paul & Dorothy Welshons. The family moved to San Francisco briefly before settling in San Luis Obispo, California. Dot met her longtime friend, Rosie Marie Hard in 9th grade at SLO High. Together they learned to drive in old fields and placed their own bubblegum on the infamous Bubble Gum Wall. They’ve remained best friends thru the years.

Dorothy served as a dietician for SLO General & Sierra Vista Hospitals, Queen of Angels Hospital and the SLO Co Sheriff’s department contributing 40 years.

She married James Terry in 1970 and they retired together from the Sheriffs Department in 1990. They moved to Lincoln City, Oregon where Jim passed in 1994. She relocated to Depoe Bay, Oregon before settling in Yuba City, California to be closer to family and grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

We will miss her peanut brittle, fudge, cookies and cakes she kindly baked for family, friends and neighbors every holiday season. She loved puzzles, gardening and was an avid reader.

She is survived by her daughters: Deborah Hofstetter (Mark) of Paso Robles, CA and Robyn Owens (Evan) of Folsom, CA. Stepchildren: James Terry (April) of Ventura, CA and Kerrie Stream (Michael) of Phoenix, AZ. Sister Carol Palmer, Stella, MO. Several nieces and nephews. Grandkids (18) Great Grandkids (33) Great-Great Grandkids (4) and lifetime friend Rose Marie Hard (John) of Cottondale, Florida.

She was proceeded by her parents Paul & Dorothy Welshons, Grandparents William & Maude Welshons; Edward & Myrtle Dreer, Husband James Terry, Sons Michael & Mark Bosier, Brothers Paul, William and Robert and Sister Dolores Willie.

Graveside services to be held Friday, December 6, 2024 at 2pm, Los Osos Valley Mortuary & Memorial Park, 2260 Los Osos Valley Road, Los Osos, CA. 93402. Dorothy was a lifetime supporter of St. Jude’s Children Hospital. Donations in her memory may be made to ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
