June Ellyn Lewin, formerly Goldman, of Beverly Hills, CA, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at the age of 78. They were born on December 9, 1943 in San Diego, CA, and grew up in Los Angeles, the oldest of three children of Charles and Ruth Goldman.
She graduated from Fairfax High (’61), UCLA (’65), and Columbia University (’87), where she earned her Masters in Library Science.
She worked as the director of the Haworth Public Library (Haworth, NJ) and as a reference librarian at the Beverly Hills Public Library.
She was a dedicated teacher and practitioner of quilting, and an impassioned advocate for libraries and literacy.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, David Lewin; three children, Matthew and Alexander Lewin and Jennifer Solomon; and four grandchildren, Quincy and Jesse Solomon, and Even and Athena Lewin.
The family would like to thank Marina Figueroa for decades of devoted assistance and friendship, and Flora Gongora for the care and compassion she showed our loved one in her final days.
