Peggy Bennett was born February 28, 1943 in Longview, Texas to William and Mary Bessie White. Peggy was a long-time resident of Longview and graduated from Longview High School in 1961. Peggy graduated from Texas Wesleyan College in 1963 with her degree in nursing and worked as a nurse in nursing homes, in doctors’ office, Good Shepherd Medical Center, and finished her career as patient representative at Longview Regional Medical Center. She attended Centre Presbyterian Church of Longview, Texas and St. Luke’s Methodist Church of Kilgore, Texas. She was always seen with a smile on her face while out and about on sister trips and while attending Big Ole’ Family Reunions – whether they were hosted at the lake or hotels. She enjoyed anything and everything to do with her six grandchildren from taking them to Discovery Centers after church on Sundays to watching them perform too many dances in the living room to where she got the name “YeaYea” from how much she clapped and said yea yea as she cheered them on. She loved taking adventures down on her scooters in the woods, and driving backroads with a burger in her car. She had an adventurous heart that she shared with everyone around her and servant hands of gold when it came to taking care of others, especially her family.
She was reunited with her husband of 32 years, Nicholas E. Bennett; her parents; her brothers, Van White, Richard White, and Mack White; her sisters, Barbara Nell Sammons and Alice Lucas. She leaves behind her sons, Nick Bennett and wife Stephanie of Wichita Falls, TX, and Keith Bennett of Longview, TX; her grandchildren, Lindsey Exline and husband Jerry Exline III of Kilgore, TX, Lanie Bennett, and fiancé Kole Read of Fort Worth, TX, Regan Bennett of Austin, TX, Leslie Bennett of Kilgore, TX, William Bennett of Kilgore, TX, and Rilee Bennett of Lubbock, TX; great-grand-daughter, Mailee Jo of Kilgore, TX; her sisters Mary Uhler and husband Jim of Longview, TX, and Nancy Ballard and husband Cyril of Gilmer, TX as well as a numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. To met her once with a smile on her face was to love her for a lifetime.
The Bennett family would like to give a special thanks to the Traditions Hospice and staff and Amanda Parker who took great care of her in her final days of life.
Family and friends are kindly invited to join in paying their final respects and celebrating the life of this remarkable woman.
