Linda Hambrick

Linda was the second of the four “Smith Girls” that grew up in Iowa Park, Texas. Iowa Park was a very small community town and everyone knew each other. Linda’s mom and dad were both school teacher’s and her dad was the football coach and algebra teacher and her mom was a first grade teacher. Needless to say, everyone knew the Smith girls. Linda would go to the farm that her dad worked at after school with her sisters and they would take her dad lemonade and food. The four girls loved each other and truly had a special bond. The girls mom, Tommie, was diligent about making sure the girls were in church and involved in church activities. At the age of 9, Linda made a personal decision to ask Jesus Christ into her heart. Linda met “Ronnie” Ronald Hambrick her high school sweetheart at Iowa Park High School. Linda and Ron married in 1961 and had two children named Steven Keith Hambrick and Terri Lynn Hambrick Rogers. Linda graduated from Midwestern State University in 1967 and received her Bachelors degree in Education. Linda later worked as an educator in the Birdville Independent School District in Fort Worth, Texas.

Linda and Ron moved to Fort Worth in 1968. They decided in 1968 to make North Richland Hills Baptist Church their church home. Linda was on staff as the children’s director for several years. Linda truly had a heart for loving others, especially children, sharing her love for Jesus Christ and investing in their lives through Bible study. Linda was involved with Bible Study Fellowship, Precepts, Backyard Bible School programs and even served on the Board for Child Evangelism Fellowship.

Christmas of 2016, their granddaughter Heather informed Linda and Ron that she and her husband were planning on having the first great-grandson and asked if they would like to move to Longview to have a close involvement in his life. After living in the Dallas Fort Worth area for 49 years, they decided to sell their home in North Richland Hills and move to Longview to be with family. They spent many days a week caring for Rhys and had a significant influence in teaching him about Jesus Christ and how to ask Jesus into his heart. Rhys, with the guidance of his parents and grandparents made a personal decision and asked Jesus in his heart at the age of 6.

Linda and Ron Hambrick are members of Mobberly Baptist Church in Longview, Texas. They have made many friends at Mobberly, and in their community and they feel truly at home here.

Linda loves to quilt. She has designed some of her own quilt patterns as well as putting together more quilts than any of us can count. Everyone loves the quilts Linda has made. One month, she made enough lap quilts to give to her luncheon ladies group. The ladies went on and on about how gorgeous Linda’s quilts were. Linda also enjoys working puzzles and playing cards with her close friends Jim and Rose Wright.

Linda loves people, she was a very humble and giving lady. She was a great cook and we all loved her food. Linda enjoyed spending time with the special people in her life, whether it be watching them work outdoors, playing golf, fishing or having family get togethers. She was always available to help to provide support and guidance for her loved ones.

Linda passed away September 29, 2022 and is now with her Lord Jesus Christ. Our family is truly blessed for the 79 wonderful, amazing years we got to spend with her.

Linda is survived by her husband, Ron Hambrick, of 61 years. Linda is survived by her two children: son Steven Keith Hambrick (spouse Rhonda) and daughter Terri Lynn Hambrick Rogers (spouse David), Two granddaughters: Heather Ashley Hambrick McCullin (spouse Wade and great grandson Rhys) and Tiffany Nicole Hambrick Carlin (spouse Steve and great granddaughter Emma). Linda is also survived by her three sisters: Nancy Pierce, Paula Holmes and Mickey George.
