Wendy Shumway

She was born Wendy Lee Zuehlke on July 19, 1960, in San Diego, CA to Lowell Zuehlke and Grace Overdeer Zuehlke. Wendy is survived by her daughter, Laurie Shumway, younger brother, Darryn Zuehlke, and extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her loving parents and her aunt Barbara Kremis, with whom she was very close.

Wendy graduated from Kearny High School in San Diego, with honors, and was very active in yearbook staff, tennis team, Dianas, and Lavalieres. She graduated in 1978.

She went on to attend the University of California Santa Barbara where she met Robert Shumway. They were married in August of 1980, moved to San Jose, CA and had one child together, their daughter, Laurie in December of 1985 before their divorce in 1987. Wendy finished college at San Jose State University with a bachelor’s degree in Art.

Wendy was a kind and gentle soul who brought joy to everyone she met. She loved collecting anything that was brightly colored, reading any kind of book and watching Hallmark movies.

Wendy’s family and friends will always remember her smile and the laughter she brought to them. She loved with all her heart. We will miss her every day.
