Trinidad Ascension Garcia

Trini was born in St. John’s Arizona on May 6, 1948 to Ramona Castillo (Gonzales) and Jose Gonzales. She was baptized, received communion, and confirmed Catholic in St. John’s at a prevalent time of racism where the town was made up of two strong denominations, Catholic and Mormon. As a young girl she began her spiritual journey crowning our Mother Mary. Throughout school she studied religion at the Diocese of Tucson. At St. John’s high school she excelled in Spanish club, choir, band, chorus, operetta, vocal solo, oration, cheerleading, attendance, and was homecoming queen. She attended Northern Arizona University for her associates and was honored by Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity by being chosen “Rose of Delta Sig”.

Trini has now joined her parents Ramona and Jose, and siblings Faustina, Conception, Roberta, and will be buried with her life soul mate and father to her children Victor Garcia. She will be eternally remembered and survived by her five loving children and their families: Gabriel, Adina, Hope, Sophia, Daniel, her nine grandchildren: April, Keilah, Ashley, Cade, Erik, Grace, Levi, Rowan, and Olivia, and youngest great grandchild Adriel Garcia. Trini will also be remembered by her surviving siblings and their children: Audelia, Joey, Sylvia, and Herman.

Those who knew her will recall her as being a joyful, optimistic, giving, and loving individual. She rejoiced with all denominations and races. She cherished being with family and encouraged reunions. She often enjoyed spending time with others by praying, talking, laughing, singing, dancing, swimming, fishing, and playing percussion and the piano. She sought out passionately and embraced her Native American and Spanish ancestry. She found peace daily by being in nature and “walking with God” amongst all things created by Him.

Earlier in her life she was a certified nurse’s assistant caring for and playing the piano for the elderly while also traveling with her beloved fellowships on missions and pilgrimages. She carried her cross to Medjugorje, the Shrines of the Holy Land in Italy, Rome, Jerusalem, Galilee, Fatima Lourdes, Prague, and Ukraine, helping the needy in Europe and the United States in a time of great adversity.

Through study and prayer she associated to St. Bernadette, St. Anthony, St. Francis, St. Kateri Tekakwitha, and St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. She often included the names Margaret, and Corazon De La Cruz with her name as she believed in the most sacred hearts of Jesus and Mary, the Cross, and the Holy Trinity (Trinidad) Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.

She presented her cross with the approval of Arch Bishop Chaput at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Denver, Colorado where the Arch Bishop celebrated and honored the Blessed Saint Kateri Tekakwitha. She often carried her cross to mother Cabrini Shrine, Red Rocks, and the Kateri Parish at St. Bernadette’s in Denver, Colorado.

Trini lived a life guided by God and found her protection in him. Through her spiritual journey she wrote a prayer and composed a melody to the Angelus. Her written prayer named the “Holy Blessed Rainbow of Love”: Holy God, Holy Jesus Christ, Holy Infant Jesus, Holy Youthful Jesus, Holy Spirit, Holy Immaculate Heart of Mary, Holy St. Joseph, Holy All Saints, Holy Archangels (Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Selathiel, Gehudiel, Barachiel), Holy Guardian Angels-Seraphim and Cherubim, Principalities, Dominions, Virtues, Powers and Thrones, I lift up every heartbeat, soul, mind, and body, the living, the dying, the dead, souls in purgatory, heaven, and earth. To End the evil powers of hell, Satan, sin, and darkness!

A Rosary and Blessing of her ashes was held at St. Bernadette’s in Denver, Colorado on October 17th, 2022. A Memorial Mass was held for Trini on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at St. Thomas The Apostle Roman Catholic Parish in Tucson, Arizona. She was laid to eternal rest in a Committal Service at East Lawn Palms Cemetery the same day. The family greatly appreciates all those that were able to gather and remember this wonderful woman together.
