He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on September 23, 1957, to Venita (Buehre) and Jack Daugherty. In his early life, he was known as the peacemaker of his family-always kind and affectionate. He enjoyed fishing and boating with his dad and playing little league baseball. He attended Seaholm High School in Michigan. In 1986 he moved to Colorado and married Kathleen on September 22, 1990 in Spring Lake, New Jersey.
Thomas served in the United States Marine Corps, specializing as an aircraft electrician. He completed many college-level courses at East Carolina University and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Thomas continued his practical studies at Jefferson County Airport and received his Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) mechanics license in Oklahoma. He took on many different careers in plumbing, mechanics, welding, and as an aircraft and transformer electrician. Tom took great pride in his work as a maintenance mechanic for United and American Airlines. He was an active member of the Transport Workers Union (TWU) and was a volunteer fireman and EMT in Louisville, Colorado.
His leisure time was spent outdoors. He loved camping, boating with his family, he was an exceptional swimmer and water-skier. He loved watching classic movies, working on his cars, and was a skilled handyman, always looking for something to fix or build.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Daugherty, and his daughters, Kelsey Daugherty, Colleen Daugherty, and Sarah Daugherty. He is further survived by his brother, Timothy Daugherty, and his children, Henry and Francis. His sisters, Shannon (Mark) Veurink and their children; Carrie and Stephanie; Carol (Gil) Belval and their children; Remy and Maddie, Sandy (Ted) Zamonski and their daughter Courtney. His nephews and niece Steven, Sam and Emma. He is also survived by his aunt Joann and uncle Pat Buehre, his cousin Kim (Ward) Collins and their children; Ward Jr, Connor and Camden as well as many more Daugherty cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Erin, and his nephew Jake.

A funeral service for Thomas will be held Monday, November 6, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Howe Mortuary & Crematory, 439 Coffman Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501. A reception will follow the service. Inurnment with military honors will occur on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, promptly at 1:30 PM at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Avenue, Denver, CO 80236 at Staging Area C.
