Susan Surratt Carpenter

Susan Surratt Carpenter, born in Ann Arbor, MI, on February 20, 1965, died suddenly in Longmont, CO, on December 19, 2021. Daughter of Ann Forney Surratt and the late J. Phillip Surratt, she was preceded in death by her husband Medray Harry Carpenter in 2016.

She is survived by daughter Marin Alta Carpenter; sister Nancy S. Townsend and nieces Caitlin Townsend and Ellie Townsend, from Franklin, TN; brother Andrew Surratt and nephews Timo Surratt and Joris Surratt, from Ann Arbor, MI; father-in-law, Bob Alrick, from Longmont, CO; and, sister-in-law Meshja Carpenter and niece Shay Carpenter, from Austin, TX.

Susan was a loving and devoted mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Her smile lit up a room and revealed her outgoing personality. Her daughter Marin was her world, and they spent time cooking and crafting together. They enjoyed summer weekends at the local pool and breaking into spontaneous dance parties.

For more than 27 years, Susan was a partner with Quinlan Construction in Boulder, CO. Owner Jim Conaghan and office manager Janess Boos, along with her other co-workers, are part of Susan’s extended family.

The family prays for peace of mind and calm spirits for all who loved Susan, who will be missed but not forgotten.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Ann Arbor, MI, in Spring 2022, date to be announced.
