Ronald Everett Stratton

It is with deep sadness that we share that Ronald Everett Stratton passed away on Saturday December 2, 2023, at the age of eighty. He was born on December 11, 1942, to Everett and Maxine Stratton in Longmont, Colorado. He was one of three sons. He graduated from Longmont High School in 1960. In 1964, he joined the United States Coast Guard where he served for 6 years.

Following his military service, Ron worked at McCaddon Cadillac, Buick, and GMC in Boulder for thirty-nine years, before retiring in 2008.

Ron was a loving father to Matt, Mike, and Nick, and a stepfather to Kim and Stacy Henze. He enjoyed taking his family camping and fishing in the summers and skiing in the winter. He spent many weekends taking his kids for a drive and listening to good music or a game while enjoying a drink and a cigar. As Ron’s children grew and began to start their own families, he found a new kind of love in being a grandfather. His family was his pride and joy. He was always driving by to check in on his family.

Ron was an avid sports fan, supporting all his favorite hometown teams. He was a season ticket holder for the Denver Broncos for over five decades. He shared this passion with his children, taking them to countless games. If he was not attending the games in person, you can be sure he was either watching on TV or listening in the car. Ron also loved to travel, and his favorite destination was his annual Las Vegas trip that he took with his brothers Bob and Larry. He loved rooting for an underdog and playing slot machines.

Ron enjoyed the simple things of life and was a creature of habit and a lover of routine. Once you got the chance to know him, he was warm, generous, and kind and considered you a friend. His loss is too great to adequately put into words and he will be missed immensely.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Larry, and his brother Bob. Ron is survived by his children Matt (Heather) Stratton and their children Olivia and Max; Mike (Candice) Stratton and their children Avery, Noah, and Parker; and Nick (Emily) Stratton and their children Ellie, Grant, Sam, and Landon; as well as his stepchildren Kim (Rob) Cash and their children R.J. and Dustin; and Stacy (Kay) Henze and their children Jack and Harry.
