Mary Elizabeth Hunt

Mary Elizabeth Hunt died October 6, 2023, at Linden Place (formerly Applewood Living Center), Longmont, CO. She was born January 3, 1930 in Hawk Springs, WY, to Clyde and Minnie (Rice) Johnson. Mary was 93 years old at her death. With her were her son, Dale Hunt and his wife Linda. Mary's early childhood was spent in Hawk Springs, WY . She graduated high school at Gering, NE. After which she taught briefly in Wyoming rural schools. After studying Pharmacy for 2 years at C.U., Mary married Donald L. Hunt December 3, 1950 at Boulder, CO. They lived together for 62 years until he died. Don taught in rural schools in Nebraska for six years and one year in Wyoming. Mary and Don later lived in McCook, NE, Omaha, NE, and in Council Bluffs, IA. In 1966, they moved to the Longmont and Fort Lupton area. Where she worked for 15 years in the Longmont Hospital Lab, then at Applewood Living Center for another 15 years. They lived in this area of Colorado since then. Mary retired with Don in 1995, to Lyons. They moved once more to Longmont in 2008. Don and Mary had five children and survived all but their oldest son, Dale. Mary was always active in any church she attended serving many roles in many places over the years. At Lyons she became dedicated to many community service activities. The center of these was the Golden Gang Lunch program. Mary is survived by her son, Dale and daughter in-law, Linda, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one sister, Ethel Reyes. A viewing will be held at Howe Mortuary on October 24th from 6pm to 8pm. A celebration of Mary's life will be held at Howe Mortuary on October 25th at noon. Inurnment and a graveside service will be on October 26th at 2pm at Lyons Cemetery, north end of 3rd Ave, Lyons, CO.
