Lila Mae Latta

Lila Mae (Vick) Latta, age 94, of Longmont, Colorado passed away April 25, 2023. She was born April 22, 1929, on the family farm northeast of Dalton, Nebraska. After growing up in the town of Dalton in Western Nebraska, Lila moved to Denver, Colorado, and graduated from Barnes Business College. While living in Denver, Lila met and wed Hal Van Sickle, a U.S. Air Force pilot, on March 29, 1952, but he was tragically killed in flight training just 2 weeks later. Lila later married Merle Leroy Latta on February 14, 1955, in Denver, before moving to Northeast Ohio, where she raised four sons, and worked over the years as a church secretary, medical education secretary, and medical school curriculum administrator at Case Western Reserve University. She lived in Ohio until 2015, when she moved to Longmont. Lila was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Chesterland, Ohio, for about 46 years, and had been a member of Westview Presbyterian Church in Longmont since 2015. She enjoyed writing poetry, and being an active member of her churches. She is survived by sisters Marjorie Andreas and Corine Evans (husband: Jim), brothers Lavern Vick and Dennis Vick (wife: Stephanie), son Jeffrey Latta (wife: Shirley), grandsons Justin Latta and Jordan Latta, and sons Thomas Latta and Dean Latta. She was preceded in death by her father Paul Vick, mother Lillie (Hessel) Vick Richardson, sister Joan Wilkens (husband: Rick), brother Roy Vick (wife: Jane), and son David Latta. A private family service is being planned.
