Jack was born to John and Freda Kinney on July 8, 1933, in Clinton, Pennsylvania. After graduating high school he joined the Air Force, spending some of that time in Frankfurt, Germany. His career started when he joined IBM as a service manager and while climbing that corporate ladder he and his wife Norma and their three children moved to many locations across the country. They settled in Texas and later Jack and Norma divorced.
Jack moved some more, becoming the branch manager in Santa Barbara, California. After being there a while he had a choice of where to go and chose Boulder, Colorado. There he met the one he wanted to share the rest of his life with, his present wife, Karyn. Many did not think it would last due to a significant age difference and very different personalities, but here they are 40 years later! Life took them on many adventures, traveling on their touring motorcycle, going on cruises with Jack's brother and his wife or with friends, hopping on a plane to the Caribbean or going camping in their motorhome with their big dogs.
Jack loved vehicles of all kinds, owning and maintaining everything himself. Upon retiring from from IBM he hit the road hauling classic cars or new horse trailers around the country. He loved that big Ram dually! His other hobby which he also loved was singing with the Longs Peak Barbershop Chorus and his quartet Coconut. Many lifelong friends were made through this activity.
Jack was not a person who said no to anyone that needed help with anything; he was always willing and able to do whatever was needed. This one of a kind man will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dot, sister-in-law Shirley and a great grandson James. He is survived by his wife, Karyn, his 3 children, Deb (Doug) Wickwire, David (Pat) Kinney, Ron (Geri) Kinney, his brothers Bill Kinney, Chuck(Bonnie) Kinney, Butch(Wendy) Kinney, 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and sister-in-law Linda Helms. He also leaves behind beloved pets Chinook and Pema.
Donations may be made in his honor to Longs Peak Chorus, Longmont, Colorado. Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah or The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, Colorado.
A Celebration of Life for Jack will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Howe Mortuary located at 439 Coffman Street, Longmont, Colorado.
