James Everett Schleeter

James is survived by his wife Helen Schleeter of Longmont, Son Jamie Schleeter, Daughter Sara Kempter and husband Tim of Longmont, grandchildren Tori Whitney and Husband Connor, Dylan, Aydyn Schleeter and Haley Kempter of Longmont, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Opal Schleeter, Mother and Father-in-Law Bonnie and Kermit Edlund and sister Linda Tiedje.

Jim was born on March 8, 1949, in Holdrege Nebraska, to Opal and Everett Schleeter, on a farm near Bertrand. He graduated from Bertrand Community School in Bertrand Nebraska in 1967. He attended Hastings Technical College with a degree in HVAC. He married Helen Edlund June 8, 1969, and joined the Armed Services at that time, receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1971. Over the next twelve years, the couple gave birth to Jamie and Sara. His children remember him as always being a great storyteller, about his days growing up on a farm and all the trouble he got into and his life overseas in Vietnam. His hobbies included woodworking, hunting, camping, fishing, and watching his grandchildren grow and prosper.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled for the summer of 2024. All are welcome to attend the Celebration of Life at that time. Memorials can be sent to 301 Wadsworth Circle, Longmont CO 80504, to be designated later.
