Evangeline Angie H. Perez, born February 1, 1940 to Secundino Herrera and Isidora Rivera in Rociada, New Mexico. The Herrera family came to Colorado in 1951 and established a new home in the Longmont area. Angie attended St. John's Catholic School and Longmont High School. In November of 1957 she met the love of her life, Ray Perez and they married Sept. 26th, 1959. They have four children; Ric Perez of Los Angeles, CA, Mona Perez-Kniss and Kevin Kniss of Longmont and Rockport, TX., Tina and Jeff Capaldi of Longmont, and Steve and Jaclyn Perez of Berthoud, CO.Angie attended Hollywood Beauty College in 1960 and worked in Lafayette for the next 4 years, and then on to Longmont salons for the next 7 years. In 1971, Angie and her husband Ray opened her first salon, Angie's Beauty Centre. Angie remained a force in the local Longmont business community where she had different salons for the next 42 years. She has been a member of St. John's Catholic Church and was a member of Christian Family Movement, the Cursillo Movement, Spanish choir, and she was a hospital volunteer at Longmont United Hospital since 1991. Angie and Ray where members of Canta Colorado, a choir from Denver, a choir made up from multiple parishes throughout the state of Colorado. In 1986, the choir was selected and invited to go to Rome Italy, where they sang for the Pope John Paul II at St. Peter's square.She is preceded in death by her grandson, Alan Perez, her parents, Sec and Isidora Herrera, her sister Carmen Gordon, and many other uncles, aunts, and cousins. She is survived by her loving husband Ray and her children, and her beautiful grandchildren, Dominic Capaldi, Tessa Capaldi, Josh Kniss, Jonah Perez, and Sammy Perez. She is also survived by her sisters June Ortega, Nell Duran, Sally Pinley, Lucy Pineda, Maryanne Sandoval, Teresa Zavala, and her brothers Dennis Herrera and Rey Herrera.All arrangements for services are being handled by Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, the family appreciates your condolences and hopes you can make one of the services.
