Cynthia Bishop Jonas was born on March 21, 1981 and died unexpectedly on January 14, 2021. Our fierce, brilliant, passionate, beautiful Cindy touched the lives of everyone she met. She was a devoted mother and wife, an amazing sister and daughter, and about a million peoples’ best friend. She wrote brilliantly, danced exquisitely, taught passionately, climbed bravely, advocated fiercely, and bartended with the best of them. She lived wholeheartedly. The pain she carried with her may have overcome her in the end, but it drove her passion to listen to and honor the voices of those who sometimes struggled to speak. Her authenticity, generosity and indomitable spirit will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her husband Matthew Jonas of Longmont, her children Tabitha and Josiah Howard of Berthoud, her brother Sean (Stephanie) Bishop of Denver, her sister Sandy (Chris) Rackley of Rochester, MN, her father Kim Bishop of Denver, her mother Laura Bishop of Littleton, and countless friends, extended family, and colleagues who brightened her life and shared her passions. Private services will be held at Howe Mortuary in Longmont on January 27. Details for a public celebration of life this spring, open to all who loved Cindy, will be forthcoming as the pandemic allows. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed in memory of Cindy to Moving to End Sexual Assault (MESA) of Boulder County or the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
