Barb was born on February 2nd 1950 in Chicago and grew up in Glenview, Il, She spent her adult years in Colorado. There, she joined a writing group that is active today. Barb served on the board of the Colorado Women’s Political Caucus and wrote about public policy issues. Barb was named to the Colorado Child Support Commission and had a hand in writing Colorado’s first child support guidelines. A widely published poet, Barb enjoyed teaching writing at Arapahoe Community College and became president of the Colorado Authors League in 2018. She received the Colorado Authors League Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023.
Barb had a kind heart, a generous spirit, and an insatiable curiosity about the world that fueled her writing and research. She was an amazing mother, a caring sister, a loving grandmother, an exceptional friend, and a passionate advocate. Barb leaves a legacy of achievements and service to her community. If you knew Barb, chances are she helped you in some way. She had a passion for solving problems and helping others.
Barb is survived by her children Johanna Kathleen (Katie) Taliercio, Michael Taliercio and his wife Megan Licardi, and Vincent Anthony (Tony)Taliercio. She is also survived by her grandchildren AJ and Sean Taliercio, and her sisters Noreen Oesterlein and Mary Semela. No funeral services are scheduled.
