Alberta C. Poland of Niwot, Colorado passed away in Niwot on July 1, 2024 surrounded by her loving family at her home. Alberta was born on November 21, 1934 in Rudyard, Michigan to Rene and Cecile (Gagnon) Savoie.
Alberta attended school and earned her Nursing degree in Quebec, Canada. She practiced nursing for several years until she became a dedicated wife to her beloved husband Jackie Poland, mother and grandmother.
Although Alberta was proud of her nursing career, her true love was being with her family. She was the family matriarch who guided her family with warm embraces, humor, and unwavering support.
Pastimes that brought her joy included gardening, cooking large family meals and the occasional thrill of a penny slot. She was a devout Catholic who said her prayers daily for those who passed before her and those who she knew needed the extra support.
Alberta is survived by her sisters Agnes Trudgeon of Grayling, Michigan, Evelyn Mitchell of Longmont, Colorado and her brother Harvey Savoie of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Her children Mark Poland and his wife Fran Poland of Longmont, Colorado; Greg Poland and his wife Colleen Poland of Seattle, Washington; Jacqueline Forsberg and her husband Eric Forsberg of Longmont, Colorado; Terri Curry and her husband Dean Curry of Longmont, Colorado.
Her grandchildren Cecile Kerr and her husband Neal Kerr of Englewood, Colorado; Bryan Poland and his wife Sophie Poland and their three children of Stillwater, Minnesota; Christa Henley and her husband Graham Henley and their two children of Littlefield, Texas.
As she ascends to heaven to be with her lord and savior, she joins her cherished husband Jackie Poland and grandson Grant Poland. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Her life was beautiful and her legacy profound. She left an indelible mark on us all.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont, Colorado on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 10:30am followed by her burial at Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery in Boulder, Colorado.
