Howard Burton Doty was born January 31, 1922 in Alhambra, California. He was the 2nd of 3 boys born to Earl Doty and Mabelle Newberry. He attended Alhambra High School, then Woodbury College. He met and married Florence Jean Klenck on July 3, 1942. They moved to Long Beach and began raising what would become a very large family of 8 children. Howard became a Yeoman 1st Class in the Navy, serving as secretary to Colonel Andrew Drum, and was honorably discharged at the end of his duty. Until his retirement, and beyond, he worked in the field of Electrical Engineering. He designed and sold cables and connectors for various types of oil wells, airplanes, submarines and special cables for Disneyland’s “it’s a Small World” and Submarine.
He Lived a full and happy life, and was active until just recently. He enjoyed 60 years of marriage to his wonderful wife, Florence and married a few years later to Doris Bourassa who was a dear friend and companion. Howard’s interests included fishing, golf, and lawn bowling. He also loved a good martini at the end of the day with family or friends. He is survived by three daughters and four sons’ Carole Campbell, Bill Doty, Jim Doty, Lynette Hanson, Bob Doty, Carl Doty and Jean Marie Beard and also one brother, Roy Doty. He was preceeded in death by his first wife and second wife; Florence and Doris, one son, Raymond and one brother, Dick.
