Donald Louis Holloway

April 5, 1933 - April 19, 2011

Don passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, just two weeks after his 78th birthday. Don was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After high school graduation, Don joined the Navy where he served as a corpsman in the Korean War until 1955. Don was discharged in San Diego and liked the beach and weather of Southern California so much that he decided to stay. Don moved to the LA area to attend school. He graduated from Harbor College, CSULB, and later USC for his masters. In 1958 Don married Mary Jo Morgan. Don worked for Certified Grocers for 20 years before changing careers and teaching accounting at Long Beach City College for 18 years (retired 1999). Don is survived by his two children, Bret (Peggy), and Lisa; and his three grandchildren, Brendan, Blair and Molly. Don's children and grandchildren were definitely his pride and joy. A memorial service will be held Monday, 11am at Luyben's Family Mortuary at 5161 Arbor Rd, Long Beach, CA 90808. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Memorial Medical Foundation (designated to Outpatient Pulmonary Rehab), 2801 Atlantic Ave, Long Beach, CA 90801-9961.
