Marie (Mary) Stojaspal passed away quietly on Thursday, July 1, 2010 in her 99th year. She was born Marie Anezka Jeglik in Moravia (Czech Republic) in 1912. She emigrated to Canada with her husband of 62 years, the late Frantisek (Frank), and raised her beloved daughters, the late Mary-Anne Marko, Frances Swindall, Jane Jeffery and her husband Jay, and Helen Cadieux, in Hamilton, Centralia and London. Predeceased by her brother Josef. She will be lovingly missed by 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Teta Marie will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews in Canada and the Czech Republic. She was a long-standing member of the Catholic Women’s League. Marie and the family are especially thankful to Dr. Barry Gambrill, Dr. Stewart Harris, and Dr. Louise Moist, and are grateful to her personal caregivers and the doctors and nurses at University Hospital for their compassionate care. Friends will be received at the Lloyd R. Needham Funeral Chapel on Monday, July 5 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm with parish prayers at 8:30 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Jim Mockler on Tuesday, July 6 at 9:30 am at St. Peter’s Basilica, 196 Dufferin Avenue, followed by interment in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Marie are asked to consider the St. Peter’s Restoration Fund.
