With his daughter by his side, Jacob peacefully went to join his wife and son.
Born in Amsterdam “Jack” immigrated to Canada, July 1957 with his wife Jannetje Victoria and his two children Boudewyn Leopold and Irene Beatrix Margriet and settled in London, ON. He worked hard and conscientiously at many jobs to provide for his family and ultimately retired as custodial supervisor of the Dental Bldg at University of Western Ontario in 1985. His greatest heartbreaks were the loss of his son on May 9, 1961 at age 16 and his wife on Dec. 25, 1994. He was also predeceased by his parents, a brother and two sisters in The Netherlands. He is survived by his daughter Irene Flory (Joseph Boudreau), sister Will Sackers and sisters-in-law Grada deLange and Elfia Hooftman. Grandchildren Angeleen Hart, Michelle Makra (Carlos) and William Makra (Julie). Great grandchildren Christian, Jacob and Payton Hart; Desmond and Calvin Makra Avalos. Many nieces and nephews in The Netherlands, Canada and Chile. Jacob will be dearly missed by all who loved him, especially his daughter Irene. Special thanks must go to the staff at Vision Nursing Home for the care they provided to Jack during his stay these last twenty months. Thanks also to Dr. Mohammed Mahmoud and his team during his lengthy stay at University Hospital two years ago. A Graveside service will be held in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 303 Riverside Dr., London on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 11a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jacob’s memory may be made to Vision Nursing Home (229 Wellington, Sarnia ON).
