Thomas Alexander Mirchev, a beloved resident of Livonia, Michigan, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024, at the age of 80, under the compassionate care of Angela Hospice. Born on February 22, 1944, in Ammochori, Greece, Tom was a devoted husband, father, and dedo whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew him.
Tom is lovingly remembered by his children, Kim (Todd) Bekolay and Tina, and his treasured grandson, Keenan. He is also survived by his sisters, Lena and Marta, as well as his godchildren, Nicole, Megan, Fabian, and James. His many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will deeply feel his absence.
Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Penny, and his parents, Alexso and Petrula. His legacy of love, strength, and dedication will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to be part of his life.
Tom spent his childhood in Florina, Greece, surrounded by the warmth of his family. At just 12 years old, he embarked on a courageous journey to the United States, settling in Danbury, Connecticut, where he lived with his uncle. Under his uncle's guidance, Tom honed his skills as a talented tailor, crafting custom men’s suits with precision and artistry.
After graduating from high school, Tom proudly served his country by joining the Army in 1965. Upon completing his service, he returned to civilian life and found his greatest joy: meeting Penny, the love of his life. They were introduced during a visit to her father, a close friend of Tom's uncle. The two married and built a beautiful life together, raising two beloved daughters in a home filled with love, laughter, and devotion.
Tom dedicated over 33 years of his life to Chrysler, where his passion for cars flourished into a lifelong hobby. A true tinkerer at heart, he loved disassembling and rebuilding any car that found its way into his driveway, finding joy in every project.
In addition to his love for cars, Tom enjoyed bowling, cheering on his favorite baseball teams, and traveling with and playing cards with friends. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his grandson, Keenan, who brought endless pride and happiness to his life.
Family will receive friends Thursday, December 12, 2:00-8:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Road, Livonia, MI.
