Roberta (Bobbie) Jean D’Agostino, age 59 of Canton, Michigan passed away from endometrial cancer on December 27, 2024 surrounded by her loving spouse and soulmate of 27 years. Demonstrating utmost courage and strength, she confronted and fought her brutal disease with no complaints.
Roberta was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on October 2, 1965 to Mary (Glackin) Grime and the late Stephen James Grime. Bobbie graduated from Bishop Dwenger High School in Fort Wayne in 1984. She went on to receive an Associates Degree in Business from Indiana Vocational Technical College in 1986. Throughout her life, she worked full-time holding 2 jobs while attending college classes at night to further her education. She funded and paid 100% of her college expenses working tirelessly in the corporate and retail settings. She eventually received her Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in General Studies from Sienna Heights University (Adrian, Michigan) in the year 2000. She worked in the insurance industry for 25 years with a high level of expertise in Healthcare and Life Insurance programs. She later became a licensed agent in the State of Michigan. More importantly, with her wonderful customer service skills, she left a legacy of being a people’s agent who had a love for helping clients solve their insurance issues. Her customers appreciated her integrity and respect and would refer to her as a genius in problem resolution.
In August of 1997, she married Mario D’Agostino, the one and only true love of her life, They originally met in Fort Wayne, Indiana where Mario was immediately taken with her beautiful contagious smile and sweet spirit. She would often say that Mario was her everything and Mario would often say that Bobbie was his hero. Mario would also say that he learned so much from Bobbie’s “street smarts” and often called upon her for help, whether it was solving computer matters, fixing something in the house or just offering good advice about life matters.
Roberta and Mario shared a special bond and synergy that was noticed by others who met them, up to and including the various members of her medical team treating her cancer. She loved spending every single minute with Mario and they were happiest simply sitting on the patio listening to and watching different species of birds. Their bond was so strong that they never wanted to be apart from each other. Roberta nurtured this bond further with her brilliant mind and entrepreneurial skills as she founded her own company, Aroma Scents LLC, producing handcrafted soaps, soy candles and other products for both wholesale and retail markets. This paved the path for both Bobbie and Mario to leave their corporate jobs of many years so they could work together hand in hand. They spent as much time together as they could whether it was developing new products, taking a stroll through a charming town, or exploring the Leelanau Peninsula—her favorite place in Northwest Michigan.
Bobbie, who had great cooking and baking skills, took pleasure in treating Mario to the most beautiful, creative cultural dinners which were out of this world. She loved selecting flowers and planting them around their house with Mario. No matter what they were doing, she knew that life would be good as long as she was with “her Mario”.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her father, Stephen James (Jim) Grime, her father-in-law Angelo Antonio D’Agostino, her brother-in-law Robert Banning Kelley and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her loving husband, Mario D’Agostino, her mother Mary Grime, her mother-in-law Marcella D’Agostino, brother-in-law Carmine (Jennifer) and her niece Sofia. She was very close with two of her sisters, Patty Grime (Dan Coroian) and Therese Kelley. She had extended family with her close friends whom she considered her brothers and sisters.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roberta’s memory to the Foundation for Women's Cancer or the Roberta D’Agostino GoFundMe Page for assistance in non-covered medical expenses.
