Robert "Bob" MacKinnon was born on January 22, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan. He was the second child of the late Samuel and Sarah MacKinnon. Bob passed away on January 19, 2017 in Livonia, Michigan at the age of 65.
Raised in Dearborn, Bob was a 1969 graduate of Fordson High School. Following high school he went on to work for 30 years at the Ford Motor Company, first at the Rouge Steel, then Dearborn Assembly Plant. Following his career with Ford, he went onto Alcoa, where he was a manufacturing rep for many years. A patriotic man, Robert proudly served with the Navy Reserve. In his free time Bob was an amateur historian and enjoyed collecting coins and stamps.
Bob was the loving husband of Connie née Noftz for 24 years. Cherished father of Bridget (Scott) Tschappat, Douglas (Marlena) and Clare (Aaron) Earle. Proud grandfather of Maisy, Sarah and Emily Tschappat, and Lillian and Robert Earle. Dear brother of Noel (Peggy). Robert was preceded in death by the mother of his children Katherine in 1984.
The MacKinnon family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday January 22, 2017 from 2-8 pm at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd. (east of Newburgh and I-275) in Livonia. His life will be celebrated with a Funeral Service on Monday January 23, 2017 at 10:30 am at First United Methodist Church of Northville, 777 W. Eight Mile Rd. (west of Taft) in Northville.
