Lois Esther (Petrowsky) Gartner, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away in her home on April 21, 2024 at the age of 93. She was born on August 18, 1930 in Wayne, Michigan, to the late George and Emma Petrowsky. Lois's journey was one marked by love, patience, and faith in Jesus her Savior.
During her life, Lois served many roles with grace and unwavering commitment. She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel Gartner, whom she married on August 12, 1956. For 57 years, they built a family founded on love and faith in God. Lois was the proud mother of Linda (Christopher) Klein, Beverly (late Scott) Marincic, Kenneth (late Carrie) Gartner, Hope Hunter, and William (Deborah) Gartner. Her love knew no bounds as she guided and supported them through life's journey.
Lois found immense joy in her role as a grandmother, delighting in the lives of Kristen (Marlon) Hiestermann, Michaela (Jack Smith) Marincic, Nathan Gartner, Haley Gartner, Andrea Gartner, Shawn Gartner, Justin (fiancée Angela Cooper) Hunter, Joel Hunter, Crystal Hunter, Zachary Gartner, Daniel Gartner, and Zoe Gartner. She enjoyed attending their concerts, plays, dance performances, and other events. Lois was also a dear great-grandmother to Maira, Raiko, and Holden Hiestermann whose playful antics during video calls added a new dimension to her life.
As their eldest sister, Lois shared a special bond with Elaine (late Thomas) Henning, late Eleanor (late Max) Becker, Harold (Elsie) Petrowsky, Rita (late Ronald) Alexander, and Karen (late George) Guyor. Theirs was a family woven together by shared experiences, laughter, and love.
Lois's faith was an integral part of her life. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Westland. Her gratitude to her Savior led her to be actively involved with St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she volunteered her time and talents, notably through the Ladies’ Aid and teaching Sunday School.
Lois graduated from Lutheran High West in Detroit, Michigan, and later attended Ray-Vogue College of Design in Chicago, where she honed her skills in art, design, and fashion. She used her talents as a seamstress to make clothes for her family and taught many of her children and grandchildren to sew. In addition to being a homemaker, Lois worked several jobs throughout her life, namely at Crowley's Department Store and as a childcare worker for Jackson Center in Livonia.
Lois's life will be celebrated and remembered during visitation on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 3 pm to 8 pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home (37000 Six Mile Rd. Livonia, MI). A funeral service will take place on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at 3 pm at Peace Lutheran Church (9415 Merriman Rd, Livonia, MI). Visitation prior to the funeral begins at 2 pm. Family and friends are invited to dinner at a restaurant following the funeral. She will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband Daniel at Glen Eden Cemetery.
In the hearts of those who knew her, Lois will forever remain a beacon of love, kindness, and devotion. Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched and the memories she leaves behind. It is her family’s greatest joy to think of her in her heavenly home in the arms of her heavenly Father and her Savior Jesus Christ.
