Loved husband, dad, father-in-law, gramps, brother, uncle, and friend to many. Kurt was baptized on December 10, 1939, and confirmed on May 24, 1953, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. He was the fifth child and third son born to Gottlob and Emilie Stoll. He was born and raised on a farm in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. When he graduated from high school he enlisted in the Marines and served three years. For the next 18 months Kurt traveled between California and Minnesota, having met his future wife, a sister of one of his Marine buddies, on a trip home while still in the service. Kurt and Sharon were married on April 6, 1962, and shortly after returned to San Diego, where they lived for 43 years. While in San Diego, Kurt and Sharon became parents, their daughter Miriam was born who was his pride and joy. Kurt worked in Construction, doing mostly government work, first for Herman Neumann Construction and eventually starting his own company, Kurt Stoll Construction. Kurt and the family visited many places due to his work as a Project Manager/Superintendent on contracts for the National Park Service, US Navy, US Army Corps of Engineers, Government of the US Virgin Islands, Antigua West Indies, various Native American Housing Authorities, the INS, and County of San Diego. Upon closing his own company, Kurt worked for Brown & Root Services and Jaynes Corportation as a Project Superintendent, still in government projects. Throughout the years, Kurt and Sharon were very involved with the building of both the church and school at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in La Mesa, California. He also served as President, Vice President, Trustee, Building Committee and Usher for many years. In 1995 and 1997, Miriam and her husband Bruce were blessed with two sons, Zachary and Jacob, who were the joys of his life. Upon retiring, Kurt and Sharon wanted to be closer to them so they picked up and moved back to the Midwest, to Livonia, Michigan. Since living in Michigan they enjoyed numerous soccer games, baseball games, basketball games, and other activities with the family. Kurt was again involved with his church, St. Paul’s Lutheran, by serving as Trustee, which he truly enjoyed. Being in Michigan allowed Kurt and Sharon to travel to both Iowa and Minnesota several times to see family which they thoroughly enjoyed. There were many adventures to be had traveling to sporting events all over the country and a great highlight, returning to the Virgin Islands with the entire family a few years ago. He is survived by his wife Sharon, daughter Miriam, son-in-law Bruce, grandsons Zac and Jake, brother Emil (Mabelle), sister Ruth (Daryl) sister Maryann, sister-in-law Marge, step mother Elisabeth Zboalske Stoll and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Gottlob and Emilie, and brother Walter, brother in law Herman Nuemann, nephews; Gaylon, Chad and Jim and niece Emily.
Visitation is going to take place at Harry J. Will Funeral Home 37000 Six Mile Rd. Livonia, MI 48152 on Mon. July 14 from 3-8pm. The funeral service will take place at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Livonia on Tueday, July 15 at 11am with an in state time of 10am.
